Mallard Duck and Chick Rescue

A Mallard Duck decided to have her chicks in our neighbourhood in someone yard. When they were hatched she brought them across the road and 6 of the 11 chicks fell through the sewer grate. Luckily there were neighbours around that saw this and came to the rescue. The chicks were lifted out with the use of a garden rake and reunited with mum. She then tried to hide behing a planter which would not be a good place for her to stay. So we grab a box and gloves and got the chicks in a corner area to capture them without injury. After placing 11 chicks safely into a box and not able to catch mum, we had her follow us down the street and through the forest and to the creek.
